Gallery Homeland presents
"Scratching the Surface, 2007"
Eastbank Esplanade, PDX
This large inflated sculpture simulates the motion of a tumbleweed traveling across a barren plane. Physically, surface tension keeps the sculpture attached to the water; however, the buoyant nature of the material keeps it from sinking. Consequently, the surface of the water acts as a solid plane. The form tumbles against current, up river, motivated by the breeze.
